Mamie Olliver: A Jam-packed Life
A look into the life of local chemist, Mamie Olliver, and the impact of her work in the Second World War.

Inside the Pye Building you will find their newest exhibition, Mamie Olliver: A Jam-packed Life. Mamie Olliver was a food scientist at Chivers and Sons, a local company and Britain’s leading producer of jam. She was the first female chief chemist at Chivers and made many nutrition-related discoveries in her time there. She also advocated for the inclusion of women in science and was a devoted member of the Cambridgeshire community.
In this exhibition you’ll find out how Mamie became one of the first successful female chemists, hear personal accounts of Mamie’s work at Chivers from those that knew her, and discover how her research helped the war efforts at home and abroad. Don’t wait! This exhibition closes 19th January 2020.
